Traffic

If you are living in the east side of Zamboanga and you are using the Maria Clara Lobregat Highway in going to “pueblo,” for sure you experience the same problem as I do. Traffic.

At this time of the year, traffic along these areas should have been light. The volumes of commuters are less because commuter-students which occupy the highest percentage among the commuters are limited to those with summer classes only. But why the traffic?

It’s due to the rehabilitation/reconstruction of some parts of the highway particularly along the Guiwan-Putik District and the Sta. Cruz Intersection (It’s almost election time that’s why government projects are sprouting everywhere!). I have nothing against improvement of the roads. But what irks me is the fact that there are other roads that are worse than those being currently rehabilitated. Ha! Well, we can not blame them. After all, lots of motorists are passing that highway in particular. So, if they will put their billboards later upon completion of the project it will yield lots of pogi points for them.

Another thing is their manner of doing the rehabilitation. Can’t they make it on a phase by phase basis? Like focus on this area first before going to the next. At present, prospective roads subject for rehabilitation are riddled with pimples to the inconvenience of the commuters and yet until now no work is being applied on them. It had remained that way for more than three weeks already. Argh!

I hope these wont last until the opening of classes. If it will, then that means I have to wake up at 5am… take breakfast at 6… leave the house at 7. Or else, I’m a dead meat!
